It steers easily at slow speeds and still offers enough grip to help kids learn to make real turns.

Why we like it:

Völkl kept this one simple and light, which matters more than anything for little legs. The early-rise tip makes it hard to catch an edge, so kids spend more time skiing and less time picking themselves up.

Who it's for:

Beginner and early intermediate kids who are learning to link turns on green and blue trails. It's sized for young children, making it a good fit for families looking for a durable first or second pair of skis.

Highlights:

Völkl starts with a synthetic PU core and a soft flex designed for lightweight young skiers, so kids can bend the ski into a turn without having to muscle it. The Power Shell cap construction wraps the topsheet over the core, keeping the ski light and very durable, which helps when skis get dropped on parking lots and dragged across lift lines. The rocker-camber profile lifts the tip for easy turn starts and a forgiving feel, while camber underfoot gives kids enough edge grip to start carving. The 110cm size has a 68mm waist and a 10.4 meter radius, which makes short, round turns feel natural.

Things to consider:

The soft PU core is great for learning but will feel flimsy to stronger or heavier kids moving into more advanced skiing. Young skiers who outgrow it may want the Mantra Jr or Blaze Jr in Völkl's junior line for more stability.

Fit & sizing considerations:

The Flair Jr follows standard kids' sizing; for most young skiers, a length around chest to chin height works well. Go shorter for brand-new skiers who need maximum control, or longer for kids who are already confident and skiing faster.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0670/5135/6456/files/2025-volkl-flair-junior-skis-with-4-5-v-motion-jr-bindings-v2411256-1-v2411256.jpg?v=1793025459
https://checkout.skiessentials.com/products/2025-volkl-flair-junior-skis-with-4-5-v-motion-jr-bindings-v2411256
