salomon-shelter-waterproof-women-s-winter-boots-l478552
Salomon Shelter Waterproof Women's Winter Boots

Slushy sidewalks, icy parking lots, and snowy dog walks are home turf for the Salomon Shelter Waterproof Women's Winter Boot. This mid-height winter shoe pairs a waterproof membrane with a softshell upper, a cozy faux fur lining, and a winter rubber outsole made for cold-weather grip. It's light enough to wear all day around town while holding off snow and cold when the forecast turns ugly.

Why we like it:

The winter-specific rubber is what sold us. It's formulated to keep its grip in freezing temperatures, which is exactly when ordinary soles stiffen up and start to slip.

Features and Functions:

Warmth on the Shelter comes from several layers working together. Salomon's activ.WARM insulation, made with 90% recycled polyester, covers the midfoot and toes; Salomon also lists its adv.WARM thermal barrier on the women's version; and a faux fur lining wraps the whole foot. A winter sockliner with a 4mm EVA foam layer and a soft cover adds insulation underfoot. The textile and synthetic softshell upper is supple and breathable with light thermal insulation of its own, and an Adv.DRY waterproof membrane keeps rain and snow out. Winter contaGRIP rubber handles traction, regular laces with eyelets let you fine-tune the fit, and the stack sits at 32mm in the heel and 20mm in the forefoot for a 12mm drop. The women's version weighs about 360 grams.

Bottom Line:

The Shelter is an everyday winter shoe for women who want real weather protection without lugging around a heavy pac boot. It's the pair to grab for errands, commutes, and walks on snowy, icy days.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0670/5135/6456/files/salomon-shelter-waterproof-women-s-winter-boots-l478552-l478552-plumphantom.jpg?v=1791309920
