I had a pretty rough day to test out these skis this past winter, with frozen snow all over the place. The correct ski for the day would have been something narrower and more piste-oriented, but I was incredibly surprised at how well the Ranger 99 Ti held its edge and maintained its composure, even in the sketchiest of conditions. So, for the firm snow of the mountain, the skis are fantastic, and that’s not even what they’re meant to do. In the soft snow, the carbon nose and the long, low tip rocker keep the skis afloat and fun no matter how deep the snow is. In the 174, the skis have a 97 mm waist, which is right in the sweet spot for blending the soft snow and the deep powder with the on-piste attributes of the skis.
