The Hawx Prime 120 S BOA brings Atomic quality and BOA alpine technology together to create a mid-volume boot that maintains first class skiability with a more relaxed, comfortable feel around the foot. Advanced skiers will find the Hawx Prime 120 S BOA to be powerful when they need it, but with enough flex and suspension to be forgiving in the hardest terrain. All in all, Atomic knocked it out of the park with this boot and if it fits your foot, you’ll want to take it everywhere on the mountain.

Why we like it:

While a lot of good things can be said about the BOA H+i1 system, the new upgrades to the Mimic liner might outshine BOA this year. Atomic took one of the best stock liners on the market and made it even better for the Hawx Prime 120 S BOA.

Who it's for:

Advanced skiers, and even lighter weight expert skiers will enjoy the Hawx Prime 120 S BOA. The 100 millimeter last means a more average volume foot is the best match for the boot, narrower feet and ankles may find a little too much movement is detrimental to their skiing. Slightly higher volume than average feet can still make the boot work, especially with how customizable the Hawx Prime 120 S BOA is.

Highlights:

The first year for the Hawx Prime 120 S BOA is sure to be a good one. Taking the already excellent performance and fit of the Hawx Prime line and adding an alpine BOA and new liner tech will certainly make Atomic fans happy. The BOA H+i1 dial takes micro adjustments to the next level, allowing the shell to be wrapped around the foot until the perfect amount of compression has been reached. The new Power Ankle Lock system adds anatomic foam inserts to the already excellent Mimic Platinum liner to provide a truly custom fit that is built to last.

Things to consider:

Considering the Hawx Prime 120 S BOA is straddling the line of a comfortable fit and performance skiing, people with skinnier feet and ankles, along with very aggressive skiers looking for a very compressive fit might want to look at a different boot.

Fit & sizing considerations:

The Hawx Prime 120 S BOA maintains its precise feel by keeping the ankle pocket fairly snug, while opening up the midfoot and forefoot areas to allow less compression around more tender parts of the foot. As with some other boots in the Atomic line, the Hawx Prime 120 S BOA does tend to feel just a tad bit shorter in the toe when compared to like models from other brands. Most people will find width around the toes to be comfortable, and space over the instep is generous.
