2026 Volkl Katana V-werks Skis

The 2025 Volkl Katana V.Werks is an extremely unique and specific ski that takes a touring approach to the mighty Mantra 108. It has a fairly narrow audience, but for that group of people, it is exactly what they need. For skiers who spend their time searching for technical, deep and challenging terrain, the Katana V.Werks is one of the few that does it at a light weight with a shockingly high amount of precision.

Why we like it:

The Katana V.Werks is an interesting approach to modern ski construction techniques, as it takes the extreme of the process and combines them into one conglomerate. The result is a ski that is supremely light for its width and extremely strong for its weight.

Who it's for:

Advanced to expert skiers who are looking for a lightweight but strong and responsive package that allows you to travel deep into the backcountry to check off the biggest and most technical of lines.

Highlights:

Volkl’s Multilayer Wood Core Light made up of poplar and beech stringers runs down the central portion of the ski and goes to full width underfoot to supple energy and stability. 3D Ridge Carbon laminates over the core not only keep the weight down but also bolster energy and responsiveness from tip to tail. A fully rockered profile is indicative of its powder-oriented application and makes them very smeary and maneuverable in deep powder.

Things to consider:

The Katana V.Werks is quite specific to the backcountry and would not necessarily be the choice as a resort powder ski. However, if you are a less aggressive skier who wants a lightweight ski that is sturdy and maneuverable, this ski would make for a good resort powder ski. High speeds through variable snow are not this ski’s forte and there are better skis out there for those situations.
