Redesigned for 2026, the Atomic Maverick 86 C with Marker Squire 11 Bindings brings new life to the narrowest ski in the Maverick line. With an updated shape, lighter construction, and added tech like HRZN Tech in the tips, this ski delivers smooth turn initiation and a balanced, intuitive feel that’s ideal for skiers who spend most of their time on groomers but don’t want to be confined to them. We paired the Maverick 86 C with the Marker Squire 11 because of the Squire’s high performance and dependability for lighter weight all mountain and freeride skiers. With a light weight construction and a safe, reliable release, the Squire 11 is a go to choice to keep performance high and weight low.
Why we like it:
This is more than a refresh—it’s a full rework that makes the 86 C more fun and capable in a wider variety of conditions. It carves confidently but still pivots easily when the terrain gets tight or unpredictable.
Who it's for:
The Maverick 86 C is an excellent choice for intermediate to advanced skiers looking for a groomer-friendly ski with just enough versatility for bumps, trees, and the occasional off-trail line. It’s approachable, responsive, and always ready for more.
Highlights:
Atomic gave this ski a refined shape and rocker profile that improves edge contact and predictability, especially in variable snow. Despite the name, waist widths range from 86.5 to 89 mm depending on length, adding extra surface area for better balance and versatility. A Light Wood core keeps things light and energetic, while carbon reinforcement delivers a smooth, stable ride without adding weight or stiffness. HRZN Tech in the tips improves tracking and float when conditions get choppy. Marker’s Triple Pivot Light 2 Toe and Hollow Linkage Heel systems work in tandem to provide powerful energy transmission to the ski, allowing for maximum edge grip and control of the ski. Lighter weight skiers can rest easy knowing the Squire 11 will be easier than ever to step into thanks to a re-designed heel piece. Perhaps the most underappreciated feature of the Squire 11 is the anti-ice rail, which sits on top of the toepiece and can be used to scrape the sole of your boots clean before stepping in.
Things to consider:
This is still a frontside-leaning ski, so those chasing deep snow or looking for a high-speed charger may prefer a wider or metal-laminated option from the Maverick lineup. At high speeds, the absence of Titanal can lead to some instability for aggressive skiers.
Fit & sizing considerations:
The Maverick 86 C skis true to size. Stick with your standard length for a balanced feel, or size down slightly for quicker response in tighter terrain.
