The Ride Lasso Jr is built for younger riders who are figuring out the sport, whether that's first chairlift laps, lower-mountain runs with the family, or a first season in lessons. The flex is soft and forgiving, the fit is dialed in for smaller feet, and the closure system is straightforward enough that kids can manage it themselves. Construction is honest and durable, made to handle bumps, falls, and the abuse a growing rider tends to put on gear. Comfortable from day one, easy to ride into.
Why we like it:
The Kid's BOA Fit System lets a young rider crank their own boots tight without help from a parent at the lodge, which is a real day-on-the-mountain win. The Intuition Plush Liner adds genuine cushioning and warmth, so this isn't a boot kids will outgrow attitude-wise before they outgrow it size-wise.
Who it's for:
This is a boot for kids who are starting out or in their first few seasons of progression. The soft flex doesn't push back against beginner technique, and the BOA closure makes it easy for younger riders to get geared up on their own. Works well as a learn-to-ride boot, an after-school park lap boot, or a guest pair for visiting nieces and nephews.
Highlights:
Built on a Grey Last with 1:1 Lasting and an Articulated Cuff, the Lasso Jr uses the same shell-construction approach Ride applies to its adult boots, just shrunk to fit. The closure is a Kid's BOA Fit System with a single dial, which makes tightening simple and even. Inside, the Intuition Plush Liner brings real heat-moldable comfort to a junior price point, paired with Internal J Bars for heel hold. Underfoot, a Grip Lite 2.0 Outsole with Fusion Rubber and a +Slime Midsole keeps things grippy on lodge stairs and damps out vibration on the mountain. The Lock Down Turbo and Lace Lock keep the liner laces in place once a young rider has dialed them in, and the Die Cut EVA Insole with Size Shims gives a little room to grow into the boot over a season or two.
Things to consider:
Flex is at the soft end of the scale, which is exactly what most kids need but worth flagging if the rider is already advanced and charging. The single-BOA system covers the whole boot rather than splitting upper and lower zones, so fine-tuning fit zone-by-zone isn't possible. For a smaller, even more entry-level option, the Norris steps further down the line.
Fit & sizing considerations:
Junior sizing runs 2 through 7. The Size Shim insole gives a little extra room when needed, so families can buy with a bit of grow-into space without sacrificing a properly held heel. Stick with the rider's normal shoe size when possible.
