Big lines, deep snow, and high speeds are the natural habitat of the Armada AntiMatter 108. This big-mountain freeride ski sits well past the hundred-millimeter mark and pairs a poplar wood core with Armada's Speedmetal Titanal laminate, which adds serious damping without muting the ski's energy. Long, low rocker lines in the tip and tail and a long turn radius round out the shape, giving strong skiers a charger that holds its line through variable snow yet still slashes and smears when the terrain asks for it.
Why we like it:
Speedmetal is a smart take on metal in a freeride ski: narrower, strategically shaped titanal laminates replace full sheets, so you get the straight-line composure of a metal ski with a looser, floatier feel when you want to throw it sideways. The long, low rocker lines also make the AntiMatter 108 surprisingly easy to smear for how much speed it can handle.
Who it's for:
Advanced and expert freeriders who ski big terrain fast are the target here. It's built for skiers who chase fresh snow, open bowls, and steep, variable lines, and who want a ski that stays calm at speed while still letting them pivot, slash, and play. Strong skiers looking for a daily driver at a snowy resort or a dedicated western trip ski will feel right at home.
Highlights:
The rocker profile tells you a lot about this ski. Armada's Freeride Rocker puts long, low rocker lines in the tip and tail with added taper for soft-snow maneuverability, while positive camber underfoot keeps the edge locked in when you need it. Beneath the topsheet is a poplar core, chosen for its smooth, predictable feel, paired with Speedmetal: shaped titanal laminates that take the place of the Articulated Titanal Banding used in earlier designs. That change keeps the high-speed stability but frees the ski up laterally, so it floats and drifts more easily. A 24 meter radius at the 184 cm length encourages long, open turns, and at 2175 grams per ski it carries enough mass to blast through chop without feeling like a plank. Heat-treated All Mountain Edges shrug off rock hits without deadening the ride, Armada's S7 sintered base keeps it running fast, and AR100 sidewalls tie the package together. Armada rates the flex an 8 at the tip and tail with a slightly softer 7 at the waist.
Things to consider:
The AntiMatter 108 wants speed and committed skiing; at slow speeds or on firm, icy groomers it can feel a bit unwieldy, and its long radius isn't built for tight, quick turns. For a narrower, more all-mountain friendly option, the AntiMatter 100 is the natural choice, while those who live for the deepest days can step up to the AntiMatter 114.
Fit & sizing considerations:
Thanks to its long rocker lines, the AntiMatter 108 skis slightly shorter than its listed length, so most skiers can stay at their usual length or bump up one. Lengths run 176, 184, and 191 cm; size down if you ski tight trees often, or size up for more float and high-speed stability in open terrain.
