The Atomic Redster TR 3 gives competitive racers the thick-walled TR shell and narrow race fit in the most approachable flex of the TR family. Four magnesium buckles, a wide dual power strap and a World Cup race liner lock the foot down, while the softer race flex suits racers who want the TR shell's power with a bit more give through the front of the boot. It's a dedicated race boot that delivers direct, precise edge control to athletes still building strength and speed.
Why we like it:
The Ankle Retention System is a small detail that pays off, a lace loop in the liner that draws the heel back into its pocket so the foot stays planted through a hard edge set. We also like that Atomic keeps the full TR shell on this softer model, so racers get the same geometry and thick walls as the stiffer TR boots.
Who it's for:
This boot is for advanced and expert racers in structured programs, including developing racers and masters athletes, who want the TR shell's precision in a flex they can drive consistently. It fits a low-volume foot with a narrow heel and forefoot, with a touch of extra room at the big toe from the anatomic toe box.
Highlights:
Inside, the World Cup Race Liner pairs a microfiber outer and full lacing with the Redster AFS Tongue, which can be adjusted for instep height, and a dual Velcro spoiler to fine-tune forward lean. The shell uses TR Wall Thickness, the heaviest in the Redster line, molded from standard PU rather than the Formula PU found on the stiffer TR boots. The Power Chassis underfoot adds torsional stability, and the stance can be set at 16° or 18° of forward lean over a 4° ramp. Dual-Sided Cuff Alignment, 0° sole canting, Grind Grid markings and a Depth Guide boot board give a bootfitter plenty to work with. Four Magnesium Elite buckles, a 55 mm Professional Dual Strap and the ISO 5355 Redster Solid Sole finish it off.
Things to consider:
Even at the softest flex in the TR family, this is a narrow, race-only boot that is not intended for recreational skiing. Expect to spend time with a certified bootfitter on shell work and liner fit before the first day on snow. Racers who outgrow the 110 flex can move up to the TR F4 or TR F5.
Fit & sizing considerations:
Atomic builds this shell on a 93 mm race last, a low-volume fit that measures from 89 mm to 97 mm across the size run. Fitting a race boot is a process rather than a purchase, so work with a certified bootfitter to get the shell fit, punches and grinds right. A size adjuster for a half-size reduction comes in the box.
