Racers with a bigger, stronger build who find the stiffest race boots too much to flex will feel at home in the Atomic Redster TR F4. Built strictly for competition, it pairs a narrow race last with the thickest shell walls in the Redster family and a temperature-stable polyurethane shell and cuff for a stiff, race-ready flex that stays consistent from a frozen morning to a softer afternoon. In the gates, that adds up to direct, immediate edge control without fighting a boot that's stiffer than you need.
Why we like it:
The AFS tongue is a smart touch, letting a bootfitter match tongue thickness to your instep so a narrow race boot doesn't have to be a painful one. We also like the 0° sole canting, a neutral starting point that gives your bootfitter a clean baseline to grind and align from.
Who it's for:
This boot is for advanced and expert racers, especially bigger, stronger athletes, who want World Cup precision in a slightly more manageable flex. It fits a low-volume foot with a narrow forefoot and lower instep best, though the anatomic toe box gives the big toe more room than you might expect in a race shell.
Highlights:
TR Wall Thickness defines this shell, giving the TR line the thickest walls in the Redster family for maximum power on big, heavy athletes. Atomic molds it from Formula PU, which keeps its flex characteristics across a wide temperature range, and reinforces the underside with a Power Chassis for torsional stability. Podium Geometry sets a 4° ramp angle and 16° of forward lean, with an 18° option for a more aggressive stance. Grind Grid shell markings and a Depth Guide boot board make a bootfitter's job easier. Inside, the World Cup Race Liner adds the AFS tongue, an ankle retention lace loop, a microfiber outer and full lacing. Four Magnesium Elite buckles and a 55 mm Professional Dual Strap close it up, and the Redster Solid Sole meets the ISO 5355 alpine standard for alpine race bindings.
Things to consider:
This is a race boot through and through, and it is not designed for recreational skiing. The 130 flex, narrow race last and race-specific liner make it cold, tight and unforgiving for anyone who isn't training and racing, and nearly every racer will need shell work from a certified bootfitter before it skis well. Racers who need more power can move up to the TR F5 at the top of the TR line.
Fit & sizing considerations:
The 93 mm race last sits firmly in low-volume territory, with actual width scaling from 89 mm at the small end of the size run to 97 mm at the large end. Race boots are meant to fit very tight, so plan on a full session with a certified bootfitter, including shell work, before the boot ever sees the race hill. A size adjuster insert is included for a half-size reduction.
