Boot Size

Women's boots too often amount to a men's shell in a different color, which is why the Dalbello Veloce 105 MV W is worth a close look. It's a performance all-mountain boot on a trimmer medium-volume last, with women's-specific buckles, a lower-volume liner, and a dual-density polyurethane overlap shell. Insulation in the liner and a memory foam tongue address the two complaints heard most often from women skiers, cold feet and shin pressure. Advanced and expert skiers get a stiff, precise boot that actually fits.

Why we like it:

The dedicated women's buckles have their rotation axes set closer together, which sounds like marketing until you've spent a season fighting a buckle that takes two hands to close. The PrimaLoft insulation in the Veloce IF Pro W liner is the other reason we'd put this on our own feet.

Who it's for:

Advanced and expert women skiers who ski aggressively and want a boot stiff enough to keep up. The fit targets a medium-volume women's foot, meaning a narrower heel, a lower instep, and a slightly reduced forefoot compared to a unisex shell. Skiers stepping up from a softer, comfort-oriented boot who are ready for more direct feedback will notice the difference in a run or two.

Highlights:

The Veloce IF Pro W liner is where a lot of the value sits. It's heat moldable, pre-shaped through the ankle areas, insulated with PrimaLoft, and topped with an Autofit memory foam tongue that molds to the shin instead of pressing into it. The shell underneath is dual-injected racing PU, softer through the upper for easier entry and harder through the lower for drive, and it carries Contour 5 relief at the navicular, the ankles, and the outer forefoot. Dalbello's Veloce double canting lets a fitter adjust lateral cuff alignment with a hex tool, which matters more for women than most brands acknowledge given typical Q-angle differences. Closure comes from four micro-adjustable women's-specific buckles and a 40mm power strap, and GripWalk rubber is fitted from the factory.

Things to consider:

A 105 flex in a full PU shell skis stiffer than the number suggests, so lighter skiers should be honest about how much boot they want. It's a pure alpine boot with no hike mode, so touring is out. The medium-volume fit runs on the snug side of medium, and anyone wanting a softer entry point will be better served by the 95.

Fit & sizing considerations:

This one sits at 99mm, which is medium-volume by women's standards and on the trimmer side of medium overall. Mondopoint sizing is standard across the line, so focus on shell fit rather than sizing up or down. At this flex, working with an experienced bootfitter pays for itself, especially with canting and the Contour 5 zones available to fine-tune.
