The Prodigy 1 Capsule is the same ski as the standard Prodigy 1, dressed in a limited-edition graphic by artist Elsa Grace as part of her ongoing Prodigy Capsule residency. The artwork pulls from antique tilework and warm-weather memories, with motifs of botanical refuges and small creatures in tall summer grasses. The construction, shape, and on-snow feel are unchanged; this is a directional twin built for skiers who split their time between the park and the groomers.
Why we like it:
It's hard to argue against a great ski wrapped in actually-cool art. The Capsule program treats Faction skis like canvases, and the result is something that feels personal and collectible rather than just another colorway. The art is striking and unusual; you don't see many ski graphics built around antique tilework and tall grass.
Who it's for:
Intermediate to advanced park-and-trail skiers who already love the Prodigy 1 platform but want something with a unique, artistic touch. Also a great pick for collectors who value limited-edition gear with real artistic merit behind it.
Highlights:
Underneath the unique graphic, the construction is identical to the standard Prodigy 1. A poplar and ash wood core blends pop and dampening, with poplar handling the energy and ash adding stiffness and edge bite. The carbon and rubber stomp pad underfoot absorbs vibration from landings and protects the core, while XL 2.5mm edges add real durability for a ski that's going to live around park features. The matte topsheet showcases Elsa Grace's artwork, which centers around small wildlife in tall summer grass and antique tilework patterns; it's a striking visual departure from the standard CHASM design. Shape is directional twin with an elliptical sidecut, the same as the standard Prodigy 1, with a slightly narrower tail than the tip for added drive and stability skiing forward. Rocker profile is balanced with modest tip rocker, generous camber underfoot, and a touch of tail rocker.
Things to consider:
Capsule skis are produced in limited quantities, so availability can be an issue. The construction is identical to the standard Prodigy 1, so you're paying for the artwork rather than any performance differences; if that's not a factor for you, the standard version makes more sense. The narrower waist also means it's not the right ski for soft snow or off-trail charging.
Fit & sizing considerations:
Sizes true to length. Most skiers should pick their usual size; size down for a more nimble park-focused feel.
