The K2 Almanac is a volume-shifted twin built for riders who want a more compact, surfy feel without losing all-mountain capability. The shorter overall length combined with a wider waist drops the swing weight and tightens the turn radius, which makes the board feel quick and playful in trees and on side hits. The flex is balanced, soft enough to stay forgiving but with enough snap underfoot to hold a real carve. The Almanac is a good fit for intermediate and advanced riders looking for a one-board quiver that handles powder, trees, and groomers in a more nimble package.
Why we like it:
The shorter overall length combined with the wider waist makes for genuinely quick edge-to-edge transitions. K2's Carbon Backbone keeps the longitudinal pop strong even with the volume reduction.
Who it's for:
Intermediate and advanced riders looking for a one-board quiver that handles powder, trees, and groomers in a more compact format. Riders who like to ride switch will appreciate the centered stance.
Highlights:
Volume Shift is the geometry trick K2 leans on with the Almanac. The idea is to pack more surface area into a shorter overall length, so float and edge hold stay strong while the swing weight drops noticeably. The Twin Combination Camber profile pairs with a centered stance for symmetric riding in both directions. Construction starts with the BAP Core and Biax Glass, and K2 adds a Carbon Backbone for tip-to-tail snap. The base is a Sintered 4000 with a Stone Ground finish, and BioResin holds the whole layup together.
Things to consider:
Size selection matters more than usual on the Almanac, and riders who aren't familiar with volume-shifted shapes sometimes pick their normal length and end up overpowered. The compact format also won't deliver the highway-speed stability of a longer freeride board.
Fit & sizing considerations:
The Almanac sizes short on purpose. Riders should drop a length, or two, from what they would normally ride to take full advantage of the volume-shifted shape, and K2 publishes a 3-6 cm guideline that gives a reasonable starting point.
