Karl Fostvedt's pro-model ski sits in a category of its own. The Reckoner KF is a 114mm-waisted powder twin that swaps metal entirely for a stack of carbon and flax, producing a trampoline-like ride that's unlike anything else in K2's lineup. For 2027, it returns with a 14% stiffer flex pattern and bold new graphics, keeping the playful identity but adding some backbone for heavier skiers and chunkier snow.

Why we like it:

Rebound. That's really the whole story with this ski. K2 figured out how to use carbon to deliver the kind of energetic, lively feel that metal skis just can't replicate, and the result is a ski that pops, springs, and surfs in a way that turns powder skiing into pure play. The flex bump for 2027 keeps that energy without the previous version's tendency to feel a bit overwhelmed by heavier skiers in chunky conditions.

Who it's for:

Advanced to expert freestyle-leaning skiers who chase soft snow and big airs. Park rats wanting a powder weapon, freeride skiers with a playful streak, and anyone wanting a centered-mount, switch-friendly powder twin will find this lands right.

Highlights:

The Reckoner KF has more carbon in it than just about anything else K2 makes. Pop Lock Carbon is the unique-to-this-ski element, a full-length carbon layer that delivers the trampoline rebound feel. Around that, K2 layers in a Carbon Braided Core (a wall-to-wall sheet of unidirectional carbon), Carbon Boost stringers for additional pop, and Spectral Braid for torsional control. Uni-Directional Flax adds damping where it's needed; carbon-heavy skis can feel buzzy without it. A Pure Aspen core keeps flex consistent and predictable underneath all that reinforcement. TwinTech Sidewalls provide edge precision and topsheet protection from ski-on-ski impact. Profile is a true powder twin with deep rocker on both ends and a flat camber section underfoot, and the long turn radius pairs with the rocker for slashy, drawn-out turns rather than tight carves.

Things to consider:

This isn't an everyday driver. Hardpack is where the deep rocker and soft flex pattern get exposed, and chunky high-speed conditions can push the ski around even with the new flex bump. The KF also skis short on firm snow because of all that rocker, so most riders should plan to size up. And given the carbon-loaded build, expect a premium price tag.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Skis short on hardpack thanks to deep rocker on both ends. Most riders should size up, especially for soft-snow use.
