The 2027 Ride Heartbreaker with K2 Bedford Bindings is a first-seasons setup for riders working from the bunny hill to their first laps off the chairlift. The shape is a true twin with traditional camber underfoot, the flex is genuinely soft, and the build keeps everything light and friendly without locking in bad habits. Easy to turn, easy to pivot, easy to ride switch, and friendly enough across a long day that it will not burn out a less experienced rider.
Why we like it:
The soft Performance Light Core and Biaxial Glass keep this board playful in a way most beginner boards skip in favor of just being durable. True twin geometry with zero setback also means a new rider is not fighting an asymmetric shape while figuring out which way they want to ride.
Who it's for:
Beginner and progressing intermediate riders who want a forgiving twin that will not fight them while they work on the basics. Park-curious riders who want something softer for getting comfortable with switch riding and small features fit too, and the shorter size run skews it toward smaller-statured riders.
Highlights:
Softness is the design priority. The Performance Light Core mixes aspen, bamboo, and paulownia for low swing weight, and a Biaxial Glass layup rather than a triaxial one tunes the flex toward forgiveness. Twin Standard Camber gives honest camber feel underfoot with even tip and tail rise, so riders can pivot freely while still getting the edge hold to learn how to carve. The Quadratic Sidecut runs three symmetric radii, longer at each contact point and tighter through the middle, which keeps turn shapes predictable. The Extruded Stone Ground base is the right call at this level, needing less wax maintenance and running plenty fast. Built on K2’s A-Line™ chassis with a 3° canted footbed, the Bedford naturally aligns your stance to reduce fatigue and promote balance. The AT polycarbonate highback adds a touch more support than softer Tweakback models, giving you extra control on steeper runs and through variable snow. The Custom Caddi™ ankle strap and Perfect Fit™ toe strap provide a secure and even wrap, while tool-free adjustment points let you fine-tune your fit on the fly.
Things to consider:
The flex is genuinely soft and the build is light, so heavier or more aggressive riders will outgrow it quickly and should move to a stiffer all-mountain twin. The size run is short, so taller or heavier riders fall outside the recommended range.
Fit & sizing considerations:
Stick with what you usually ride, and smaller-statured beginners and progressing intermediates should size based on weight rather than height. Bumping up to the next length adds a touch of stability for riders at the upper edge of a bracket.
