2027 Salomon Depart First Jr Skis W/ C5 GW Bindings

The Salomon Depart First Jr is built for kids who are ready to leave the magic carpet behind and explore the rest of the mountain. A twin-rocker shape and a wood core help young skiers initiate turns easily and stay balanced even when their technique is still developing. It's a forgiving, playful ski that mirrors the all-mountain shape of grown-up freestyle skis, so kids can experiment with everything from groomers to small side hits. The Juniortrak binding system comes pre-mounted and adjusts to the kid's boot size.

Who it's for:

The graduating class of the beginner area, kids ready to ride a real lift and ski a real trail. It suits young skiers who have turning and stopping down but not yet repeatable.

Things to consider:

The learning years are what this ski is for, and a child improving fast will find the end of it inside a couple of seasons. That forgiving flex also starts to feel vague once a kid begins carving on purpose.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Length should follow the child rather than a chart, with the ski reaching somewhere around the chin for a skier still building consistency. Ability breaks any tie, because a confident kid handles length far better than a cautious one.
