Boot Size

Precision is the headline of the Salomon S/Pro Alpha BOA 120. ExoDrive construction wraps the third cuff overlap around the ankle for serious heel hold, while a 98mm last keeps the foot locked in for direct power transmission. The cuff-mounted BOA dial micro-adjusts upper-shell tension in place of a traditional top buckle, and the stiff 120 flex is dialed in for skiers who actively drive the boot rather than passively riding inside it.

Why we like it:

The Powerlink piece is a quiet but consequential upgrade; this metal insert ties the cuff to the shell more securely than a standard overlap and noticeably sharpens the boot's response when you're pushing hard.

Who it's for:

Hard-charging advanced and expert skiers built more for performance than comfort, with on-the-narrow-side feet and direct power transmission. The 98mm last is firmly low-volume and snug, and the 120 flex demands active skiing; this isn't a boot for skiers who want a forgiving ride, it's built for skiers who want to feel everything the ski is doing.

Highlights:

The S/Pro Alpha BOA 120 uses a polyurethane shell and cuff with the new ExoDrive construction, which introduces a third overlap to the cuff for dramatically improved foot wrapping and heel retention. The Powerlink, a metal piece connecting the cuff to the shell, gives the boot a more unified flex pattern while lowering the cuff pivot for assisted power transmission. Closure comes via a cuff-mounted BOA Fit System dial paired with two screwed aluminum buckles down low, plus a 45mm Energyzer Velcro power strap up top. The interior packs in the heat-moldable S/Pro CF Expert liner with Light² Footbed, featuring 4D Talyn construction and the new edgeless Custom Tongue 2.0 for tailored fit. The sole is GripWalk premounted to ISO 5355. Cuff alignment is screwed and a 6mm back spoiler comes installed at the factory for forward-lean adjustments.

Things to consider:

The 98mm last is unforgiving for wider feet; medium- and high-volume skiers are better off in the S/Pro Supra series at 100mm. The 120 flex is genuinely stiff and rewards active driving; intermediates or less aggressive skiers will likely prefer the 110 or 100 in this line.

Fit & sizing considerations:

A 98mm last sits in low-volume territory, working best for narrow to medium-narrow feet. With a high-performance boot like this, a proper bootfitting session pays off; the Custom Shell HD process can deliver meaningful shell modifications when needed.
