The 2027 Volkl Revolt 86 with Salomon Strive 14 GW Bindings is the park and all-mountain freestyle ski for skiers who want a quick, playful twin underfoot. A lighter wood core, a fast race base, and a twin-tipped shape with a tighter sidecut make it snappy edge to edge and ready to spin, jib, and ride switch from the park to the rest of the mountain. We paired the Revolt 86 with the Strive 14 because of this binding’s well known reputation for safety, reliability, and ease of use. Featuring an LDN toe piece that optimizes contact and response, these bindings integrate seamlessly with boots and skis, allowing for a natural flex and balanced stance, making them the perfect choice to pair with this ski.
Why we like it:
Fine-tuned with big-air specialists, this ski pairs a lighter wood core with a race base for genuine speed and pop. The narrow waist and tight radius make it lightning-quick and endlessly playful on features.
Who it's for:
Park sessions, side hits, and switch landings are the daily diet for this one's audience. Intermediate through advanced freeskiers after something nimble and forgiving underfoot will get on with it immediately.
Highlights:
Developed with input from Olympic big-air talent, this ski is built around a lighter wood core that drops weight and swing weight for easy spins and butters, pressed in sandwich construction with full sidewalls. A fast race base sets it apart from the rest of the line and keeps it quick into and out of features. Its tighter sidecut and 86 mm waist make the ski exceptionally quick from edge to edge, while a fully twinned shape lets you ride switch and spin with ease. A modest rocker profile keeps things playful but predictable on the firmer snow where a park-focused twin spends most of its time. At the core is the three-part heel, which delivers the secure boot retention the Strive line is known for while keeping weight reasonable. Salomon's elastic travel keeps the binding planted through chatter and cut-up snow, so it does not get knocked offline easily. The LDN toe spreads lateral input across an extra-wide pedal for crisp edge-to-edge power transfer, and a sliding toe pedal lets the ski bend underfoot for a more natural flex. The whole assembly rides on a low-profile chassis that drops the stance and centers the skier over the ski. It accepts both standard alpine and GripWalk boot soles, and the binding is TUV certified.
Things to consider:
Park and all-mountain freestyle is the job description, not powder skiing or dedicated carving. It lacks the float for deep snow and the edge hold of a stiffer all-mountain ski at speed. Keep it where the features are.
Fit & sizing considerations:
Length runs true, so pick your usual size, or drop one for the quickest, most playful park feel.
