Built for skiers who move fast and carry a pack, the Arc'teryx Rush Jacket is a lightweight PFAS-free GORE-TEX Pro hardshell redesigned for FW25 with a roomier fit, more storage, and a lower-profile hood. At 495 grams, it's among the lightest full-featured ski shells in the lineup; the kind of jacket that disappears on the skin track and delivers when conditions go sideways on the descent.
Why we like it:
The high-volume internal dump pockets on this redesign are actually large enough to swallow most climbing skins, which is a feature most ski shells claim and few deliver. For backcountry skiers managing wet skins on the descent, that difference between cramming and actually fitting is worth a lot.
Features and Functions:
The Rush Jacket runs PFAS-free 80-denier GORE-TEX Pro ePE (131gsm, jet dyed) with a FC0 PFAS-free DWR finish throughout. GORE-TEX Pro handles higher aerobic output better than standard GORE-TEX, moving moisture out faster when you're generating heat on the approach. The redesigned helmet-compatible StormHood adjusts independently and moves with the head through turns; a lower-profile RECCO reflector is embedded in the hood for search situations. WaterTight pit zippers provide rapid ventilation without compromising the weather seal. Storage includes zippered hand pockets, a new chest pocket added in the redesign, an internal pocket, a sleeve pocket for lift passes, and high-volume internal dump pockets sized to fit climbing skins. Touring-specific articulated patterning allows full range of motion under a loaded pack throughout the day.
Fit and Sizing:
Regular fit with a 78cm center-back length, revised for FW25 to run roomier through the shoulders and arms for improved mobility under a loaded pack. Touring-specific articulated patterning accommodates the full hip and arm extension of skinning without binding. True to size, with room for a light midlayer.
Bottom Line:
The Rush Jacket is Arc'teryx's answer to backcountry skiers who need serious waterproofing without the weight penalty. The FW25 redesign addresses fit and storage in ways that matter in the field; it's the shell for skiers who count grams but won't compromise on GORE-TEX Pro protection.
