Black Diamond Helio 30 Backpack

Whether it's a quick morning lap or an all-day loop, the Black Diamond Helio 30 Backpack keeps a touring kit organized and light. It's a streamlined ski touring pack with a separate avalanche tool pocket, a snow-shedding back panel, and both back and top access to the main compartment. Gear comes out fast at transitions, and the pack stays out of your way on the climb.

Why we like it:

The back panel access. Opening the pack from the side that rests against you means you can grab a layer without unloading everything or setting the shoulder straps in the snow.

Features and Functions:

Two ways in define how the Helio 30 works: a back panel zip and a top zip both open the main compartment, and an internal top zip pocket handles small items. The avy tool compartment is separate, with a large zip opening that maximizes space and follows the pack's contour. Body fabric is 840-denier, 100% recycled nylon, and the monomesh back panel with wave foam sheds snow and stays breathable while you climb. Dual-density shoulder straps carry adjustable load lifters and a sternum strap, the padded stretch-fit hip belt has a zippered pocket and gear loop, and a side pocket holds a water bottle. For carrying gear outside, there's an A-frame, a removable diagonal ski carry, a removable snowboard carry, a dual piolet attachment, and a removable rope carry, along with a hydration sleeve and internal radio routing.

Bottom Line:

The Helio 30 is the everyday touring pack for dawn patrols and day tours where you want the essentials without extra bulk. It suits skiers and splitboarders who move fast and keep their kit tight.
