Including one brake and one screw, the K2 Brake Stopper is compatible with any K2 skate from 1998 to present. Brakes are good and stopping is key when you’re out there in the real world. For a lot of advanced and expert skaters, they’re really good at using the T-method for braking—dragging the back foot at a 90-degree angle to get the friction, but for myself and for 95 percent of the skating population, the brake on the back of the skate is the saving grace. As a result, on a personal level, it’s really easy to wear through a brake pad, especially if you’re putting on the miles. Having a replacement brake pad is of the utmost importance, because stopping is not underrated. Even if you have a brand-new set of skates and are anticipating using the brakes, get a replacement. If you have been skating for a bit and have started to wear down on your brake pad, get a replacement. If you have worn your current brake pad down to a nub and are having extreme difficulty in stopping or slowing down, immediately get two replacements. They’re not that expensive and they do a very important job.
