Salomon Steep Pro S3 Poles

The Salomon Steep Pro S3 Poles are fixed-length aluminum ski poles built for all-mountain and freeride skiing. A strong aluminum shaft, a two-material grip with a long rubber sleeve, and wide freeride baskets make them dependable in deep snow and on steep terrain. They're light enough for long resort days and sturdy enough to take a beating off-trail.

Why we like it:

The rubber sleeve below the grip lets you choke down on the pole for traverses and steep sidehills without losing your hold. It's a detail usually found on more expensive freeride poles.

Highlights:

The Steep Pro S3 uses an 18mm high-grade aluminum shaft, which is stiff, durable, and light, so the poles feel balanced in hand. The S3 grip combines two materials for a secure hold whether you're wearing gloves or mitts, and the rubber sleeve below it gives you a second grip point lower on the shaft. The S3 Comfort strap is padded and easy to adjust, and a safety release lets it pull free if the pole snags in a fall or tree well. Interchangeable freeride baskets give good float in powder and can be swapped for conditions.
