Skida’s hats are made here in Vermont by women working out of their Northeast Kingdom homes, and that in and of itself is a triumph. In 1984 the Ladies Garment Workers’ Union, in a well-meaning but misguided effort, attacked Vermont’s home knitting industry, claiming exploitation. It has taken decades for textiles to come back and home work to once again be brought back to the marketplace.
