If gravity is your thing, the Specialized Status 170 is a freeride and park sled with 170mm of rear travel and a coil-sprung rear end tuned to soak up big hits. Its M5 alloy frame and Horst link suspension shrug off repeated impacts, and this particular unit is a former demo bike. Point it downhill and it just wants to go faster.
Why we like it:
The FOX DHX coil shock is the highlight, giving the rear end a bottomless, glued-to-the-ground feel that shines on rough, repeated hits and steep chutes.
Who it's for:
Built for freeride and bike-park riders who prioritize plush descending and durability over pedaling efficiency, and who spend more time on lifts and shuttles than long climbs.
Highlights:
An M5 alloy frame with 170mm of Horst link rear travel forms the backbone. Up front sits a FOX FLOAT 38 Rhythm GRIP fork with 170mm of travel, paired with a FOX DHX Performance coil shock in back. A Shimano Deore 1x12 drivetrain keeps things simple and tough, and TRP Trail EVO four-piston hydraulic disc brakes handle speed control on the steeps.
Things to consider:
With 170mm of coil-sprung travel this is a gravity-focused freeride and park bike. It is not an efficient climber or an all-day trail bike, so it is happiest where lifts, shuttles, or short climbs get you to the top.
