Swix BP99 Base Prep Soft 900g

New skis and boards come out of the wrapper with bases that have never had a proper coat of wax, and the Swix BP99 Base Prep Soft Wax is made to handle that first step. This soft, fluoro-free base prep wax melts at a low temperature and comes in a bulk pack sized for a busy tuning bench. The payoff is a primed base that's ready to hold whatever daily or race wax goes on next.

Why we like it:

It pulls double duty as a transport wax, so the same block that preps a brand-new base also goes on as a protective coat for skis headed down the road, which means one fewer product cluttering the bench.

Features and Functions:

The five 180g bars in this 900g box are what make it a shop and team staple. BP99 is the soft option in Swix's BP base prep line, and its low melting point lets it work into a new base easily. Swix rates it safe for hot box use up to 55°C, so it suits hot box base saturation as well as hand waxing, and the formula is fluoro-free. Swix positions it as the ideal first wax for new skis and snowboards, and it also serves as a transport wax when you want a protective layer on the base between tunes.

Bottom Line:

This is a bench-stock wax rather than a race-day wax. It belongs in any shop, team trailer, or serious home setup that preps new bases in volume or wants a dedicated protective coat for travel.
