Swix HS7 Violet -2°C/-8°C, 180g

Ordinary midwinter days a few degrees below freezing are home turf for the Swix HS7 Violet Glide Wax 180g. It's a fluoro-free, all-round hot wax from Swix's line for junior racers and keen weekend skiers. Its hardness makes it forgiving to work with, so even a newer tuner gets a fast, clean result.

If we could only keep one bar on the bench for a typical winter, this would be it; it covers the most common conditions and it's hard to mess up.

HS7 sits in the middle of Swix's High Speed series with a -2°C to -8°C range, the normal winter conditions below freezing. Swix notes that its hardness makes it easy to work with and easy to get a good end result, and it works as a race wax by itself or as a base for other racing products. Iron it at 150°C, crossing the full ski in 8 to 10 seconds, and give it a second heating after a 10-minute rest when durability matters. The formula is fluoro-free and 100% biodegradable, and HS7 also comes in liquid form.
